Report from the

“Mondays in June” Virtual Town Hall Series

This report covers a June 2020 virtual town hall series organized by the John Mitchell, Jr. Program, Busboys and Poets, and the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project.

In June 2020, amidst an ongoing reckoning in the United States around police brutality and the legacy of racial terror violence against Black and Brown communities, the Mondays in June virtual town hall series was launched to shine a spotlight on the need for truth-telling, accountability, and justice in the wake of centuries  of systemic anti-Black racism, oppression, and dehumanization.

In close collaboration with Busboys and Poets and the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project, the series was organized by the John Mitchell, Jr. Program for History, Justice, and Race at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University.
