Criminal Justice Case Researcher Case Advocate

Michelle is an aspiring social worker pursuing a bachelor’s in social work at George Mason. Through the collaboration of the John Mitchell, Jr. Program and Dr. Charles Chavis, she worked with a nonprofit organization located in Salisbury, Maryland called Fenix Youth Project which specifies in helping the homeless youth in the area. Working with Fenix alongside getting to know the story of the Eastern Shore made her not only see but viscerally feel the bond between history and social work. The STIP summer program has offered her an indelible experience in her pursuit to become a more culturally competent social worker.
